2003 Accord EX - Can OPDS sensor be de-activated ?

Hi,I've a 2003 Accord EX with a OPDS (Occupant Passenger Detection Programme) sensor in the front passenger seat which could detect the occupant passenger's position and based on that it decides if the passenger air bags ought to be deployed. In my car I'm told that the sensor has gone bad and the DTC error code as per the dealer is 86-12 which means the OPDS sensor has to be replaced. Due to this failure the SRS light also remains on at all times. The dealer said it would take $585 to replace the seatback sensor with a possibility that even the OPDS unit can need to be replaced for an extra $400. car has 73Kmiles=no warnty.I don't see the point in spending very much cash when mostly theres no passenger in my car and even in the rare case when I've passengers it's always adults. So I'm wondering if there's any way to entirely disable my OPDS programme so that the passenger air bags get deployed always only like they would in cars with no OPDS systems. Regards,HM

The turn indicators cannot be heard when on. It's a 2003 Accord..anyone know a fix?

The dealer said they're all like that..l know they were louder when new...I'm concerned for the reason that a large percentage of accidents are caused by indicators that are on and ought to be off. Cars turn in front of them or pull out in front of them for the reason that they think the guy is turning into that street of driveway.

I own an 03 Honda Accord EX, thought they were supposed to be problem free cars?

So far I've had to replace the a/c unit and rotars at 32k miles, the cd player quit working at about 40k miles, immediately the doors locks are not working, it needs a new oxygen sensor and the car makes a loud noise when shifting from reverse to drive. My car immediately has 55k miles.I realize that while I've had no major engine difficulties, I should not be having these little difficulties on a monthly basis. Seems when I fix one thing, something else needs to be fixed. I traded in a Mitsu Eclipse that never needed any repairs and had 150k miles for this Honda that everybody told me would be such a great auto.
