Horrible Gas Mileage one a 1995 Honda Accord V6 with 118k miles? My Honda is getting horrible gas mileage! I figured out the math and it just comes out to 12.5 mpg! I'm just gettin 200 miles per tank and it's a 16 gallon tank. I do not know what steps to take. What could I change in it to create the gas mileage better? I know it needs an idler pully bad however would that truly make that much of a distance in the gas mileage to bring it all the way down to 12.5 mpg? A buddy of mine has no different car and his is getting 28 mpg in the city. Is it possible it could be the oxygen sensor? however would that truly make the mileage this horrible? Heard that making use of a "tornado" insert and a regular K&N air filter would do better for increasing performance and mileage than an under the hood CAI pipe and filter. Also have heard tons about "chip" upgrades. I know I desire it all, however I genuinely desire to boost performance, also including mileage, and DON'T desire to have a grapefruit shooter exhaust. Those things are pathetic. You have got to gain the ability to get performance and mileage a number of other way. I have done brakes, rotors, starters, plugs, alternators, and other minor stuff on cars (can follow Haynes with no probs), however not a thing for performance. For the record, I would be very pleased with 2-6mpg boost and 5-10 horse boost, however do not desire to sacrifice one for the other. Also, greatest brands info would be nice, as well.Thank you in advance! Also hearing NGK Iridium IX plugs is promised to help a bit. Any thoughts???Lemar is the reason I was looking at the NGK Iridium, after much studying. Did not know about Iridium til I read his answer.Read more on this topic Will upgrading the exhaust and/or intake on a very high mileage Accord hurt the car more than help?I've a 1989 Honda Accord lxi with over 200k miles, and was wondering if puting on an aftermarket intake or exhaust (not a racing super high performance) would decrease the life of my auto. Immediately it runs strong and has never failed me, however "if it ain't broke dont fix it". Tell me what you think. Thank you.Read more on this topic
