Honda accord transmission problems?i've a 1991 honda accord lx automatic. I recently went to my moms house and parked the car on a steep hill as if i were driving up the hill. Well Wehn i came back out to the car the little sports light on the dash was flashing at me. The guide says that i've a transmission problem when it does that. Well i lost 1st and 3rd gear. It goes straight to 2nd gear totally skips 3rd and goes right into 4th. Even the possibility of i put the car in 3rd or 1st my self it goes to 2nd or 4th. After parking the car on a flat surface for two hours the gears worked again then light stopped flashing. However i loose the gears if i park on an incline at all. Could this be a transmission filter, Belts in the transmission going bad ( do they have belts) or it is my transmission only burned? My son purchased a 2002 Honda accord a year ago, it has 93,000 miles on it and the transmission check engine light came on. We looked up the Honda Accords to see if there had been any recalls and we found that on 2002 Honda Accords there was a 100,000 mile extension on transmissions. When we called the dealership in Nashville, TN they asked for the VIN # and said that particular model was not included in the warranty extension. That is not right, #1 there ought to not be a specific model for that and #2 I think a transmission ought to last longer than 93,000 miles especially on a Honda! We're very disappointed! What can we do to check this out and receive a number of assistance on this transmission problem, the dealership told us it would cost $3,000 or more to fix!Read more on this topic Honda Accord 92' Transmission Problem?Recently the seal inside my accord went out and it was leaking oil. I had that fixed by a 'questionable' mechanic however afterwards my mother was driving it and according to her the gears only locked up.I would like to make certain that it's the trans mission prior to i replace it, however basically it will not move at all, in all the gears when i provide it gas. When i do provide it gas the speedometer reads and so does the rpms however the car only will not move. Immediately from what i comprehend the speedometer should not truly move at all if it was the transmission, and also i'm able to put the car in neutral and push it. Should not the wheels be locked if it was the transmission? I truly do not know too much about cars, so that is the reason i posted here maybe somebody can provide me a number of possible solutions or is it actually the transmission?I have removed the air-intake hose/casing/battery casing. I only desire to be sure it's the transmission prior to i move on.I'm able to provide pictures or whatever if needed. Thank you in advance. --MarkRead more on this topic
