What happens if you drive a 98 Honda automatic transmission that is low on oil for 3 weeks, howmuch damage? I never had any complaints about my transmission until I had the transimission fluid changed a month or so ago however it turned out the mechanic did not totally fill the transmission and when I had it checked after 3 weeks the new mechanic said he could not see any oil measured on the dip stick so it was pretty low. There's not a single leaks in the transmissio so it was not leaking. Can driving it an hour one day for three weeks ruin the transmission when it's that low? The transmission is a 98 Honda automatic with about 199,000 Km on it.Read more on this topic I overheated my automatic transmission yesterday. What damage did it likely suffer?Yesterday I got stuck on a dirt road in the rain, which turned to mud. I needed to work my Honda CR-V (automatic transmission, 85,000 miles) truly hard to gain out of there, including up steep muddy hills. My coolant boiled over and my transmission overheated, causing temporary improper shifting (it would not upshift as I accelerated), also including at least one transmission slip that I noticed. I also noticed that my transmission fluid smelled burnt. It was relatively new fluid in great condition prior to this. I know I will need to change it immediately.Anyway, after letting the car cool down for hours, things seemed back to normal. I have driven it about 50 miles since then, with no further incident or strange occurrences. Is it likely that my transmission was permanently damaged by this, or is a one-time transmission overheating a thing that I should not worry too much about? Besides changing the fluid, is there another thing I ought to do immediately?Read more on this topic 2003 Honda Accord AutomaticTransmission Problem? My 2003 Honda Accord has a automatic transmission problem. The car works fine in 1st, 2nd and Drive however it will not shift into the D-3 gear. If you lock it in 2nd and accelerate up to 40 MPH and then place it into Drive and let off it is certain to slowly shift into Drive. After you're in Drive it is certain to shift down to D-3for passing. Does anybody know what the dilemma is and is it an easy fix or do I need an entire transmission rebuild? The car has a V-6 engine.Read more on this topic
