What is the max age/mileage you'd be comfortable buying a Honda Civic at?

My husband and I are thinking of buying a Honda Civic as a 2nd getting to work auto, instead of utilizing our full-sized truck (we go camping so need the truck however it does chug the gas and is not very fun to drive on the crowded highway). What max age/mileage would you recommend going with if we wanted something to last five years and highway/city traffic? Thank you! If we purchase a 2005 at around 9-10k I figure it will just take 4-5 years to create up for itself in gas savings, so even cheaper would be better however we do not desire to get a thing that's too old.I really appreciate it a lot gang!

Generally speaking, this trades speed for fuel economy.I would love to go the other direction: is there a part I'm able to purchase and have installed that'll boost the final drive ratio. This would decrease torque, however also decrease engine speed and enhance fuel economy? Two individuals answered this question by pointing out that larger tires are a technique to go to boost the drive ratio, and they're bang on, however on this particular model, the tires already pretty much fill the wheel wells.
