coolant circulation problems?

I picked up a 91 Accord w/ 98000 miles and has an odd problem or collection of difficulties. The car ran me $500 so I took a gamble on it.
First the lower radiator hose stays cold, and so does the heater core supply hose. Secondly the upper radiator hose will get warm. The third has began since a headgasket was installed. Once the engine reachs a certain temp the engine speed fluctuates between 1000 and 1500 rpm.
So far from what I'm able to tell the car has had a new water pump, timing/balance shaft belts, thermostat, cooling fan, radiator, and of coarse a headgasket. We did check the head for warpage and it checked out.
Any ideas? Is the idle fluctuation a separate issue?

I am considering pulling the thermostat and running the to see if the lower raditor hose heats up.

Thanks

Where do i find the coolant temperature sensor on a 90 honda accord lx?

I'd alos love to know the distinction from the "coolant temperature sensor" and the "Temperature gauge sending unit". I'm able to't locate either on my auto..i looked at the repair guide for honda accords (1990's) however i even now cannot locate it in my auto. Can anybody be more specific on where i ought to be looking. The guide says it ought to be either on the cylinder head or the coolant cross over passage. If anybody can supply me with actual photos or only be very descriptive on where they're located. I'd greatly appreciate it.

Coolant Temp Sensor wires?

i've a 1991 honda accord lx, and there's a black wire and a white with green stripe wire. Which wire is the signal wire, and what's the other wire? i'd guess that black was ground and the white with green stripe was signal, however i would like to make certain first.no, it does not answer my question, for the reason that i do not have a yellow with green stripe wire, and also i desire to learn which wire is considered 'signal'.
