I've a 92 honda accord ex that starts up immediately a number of times and others takes approx. 3 trys. A mechanic said it can be the temp sensor. Honda Accord 2000 no-start. Need help

Hi,

I've a Honda Accord 2000 4 cylinders with about 100,000 miles on it. I got it last summer. I noticed that once we enter winter, I had a difficult time to begin the auto. I must hold my key for an additional few seconds to begin it. I suspect the dilemma has something to carry out with winter and I'm living in SW Ontario, Canada. The normal temperature outside this winter are -10C to 0C (14F to 32F), not truly an extreme winter.

A fortnight ago, I was not able to begin it entirely. It made all the normal sound except it will not start the engine at the finish. I was outside a garage and me and my buddy pushed the car there. They checked my car for two hours and sort after from me to have it towed to Honda dealer for the reason that they could not locate the dilemma. They charged me $104 for the labor. I called CAA (equivalent to AAA in US) and had my car towed to the local Honda dealer and left it there. Two hours later, they called me and said they had no trouble starting the auto, so he sort after from me to drive me car back. I was happy the car was began however I knew the difficulty with hit me again sometime.

Two days ago, my car died in my driveway again and I called another tow truck guy. He basically sort after from me to attempt several things like stepping on the gap pedal while starting the auto, banging the gas tank. etc. When he opened my fuel cap while I tried to begin the auto, it actually worked. He said it's most likely the fuel pump problem. I drove the car to Honda dealer again and the guy said he had hard time to believe that it could be the fuel pump problem for the reason that Honda's fuel pump is bulletproof. He sort after from me to wait for next time when I'm able to't start the auto, have it towed it with no trying to begin it again. He told me it's hard for them to diagnose when the car isn't in the no-start state. I think they had enough business there that the guy does not truly care my problem.

I'm able to begin my car immediately however it has given my problem twice over the previous a fortnight. I'm afraid that when next time it will not start, I had it towed to the Honda dealer and it is certain to start again only like the 1st time.

I went to two garages during the weekend and all they said to me is had the car checked by their mechanics and they charge $90/hr labor and there is no guarantee that they will discover the dilemma. I do not desire to spend $100 for not a thing so I did not oblige.

Does anybody in this forum had the similar issue prior to or have dealt amongst problem? What could be the dilemma and is it likely to diagnose when the car is able to begin? I do not know cars very well and I'm much appreciated if somebody tell me what I ought to do.

Thank you.

I have a Honda Accord from 1991. Sometimes, it has problems starting. What do you think is

the dilemma? My car is due for it is 6 month servicing. I called our local Honda dealership. They said it's the majority of likely the fuel pump relay that transmits fuel and info to the starter. They said it was a common problem among Honda Accords from the early 90s. They recommended to replace this fuel pump relay. This would cost $190. They indicated they could check if this fuel pump relay works or not. That would cost $130. Given these costs, they suggested I directly get the fuel pump relay replaced for $190. This makes sense to me. However, I'm no car mechanic. Does it make sense to you? Or, are you aware of other likely possibilities? What ought to I do?
