I feel like the dealer is......the cat is the hat. The new key has a chip in it. The 98 Olds has 15 chips for that auto. The dealer took his time getting it for me. When I got home, and tried the set out on the auto, the solution to the door worked, however not well. It' was not cut well. However it did open the door. The ignition key went all the way in, however did not catch in the correct places to hook up, lock in, and turn. I sought to get a file and work on it, however for the reason that of the chip, and the possibility of a mistake there, I did not. I've heard rumors of dealer ripping off the unaware in these cases. Can anybody verify this? I felt like I truly had been taken when I left there. I only felt creepy. Does somebody have advice on what steps to take when I go back? I'm able to't take a guy with me or I'd. Giving them another $60 is out of the question. Agree? Thanks. I need more knowledge regarding the key and the way it goes.Read more on this topic How can I replace the Key FOB on my '93 accord without spending a fortune at the dealer? So I've a '93 Accord EX, with an alarm. I think it is a stock alarm although I am not 100 percent sure. I know the Key fob has just 1 button for lock/unlock, and the remote says honda on it. Well the key FOB is in truly bad shape, and barely works, and definetly needs to be replaced. I was going to gain one of those universal programmable ones, however I was told by two individuals, that those do not work with stock alarms for the reason that they use rolling code technology. I called the dealer and they desire about $130 +tax for a replacement. And they could not tell me weather mine actually uses rolling code technology or not. Personally I did not think that rolling codes existed back in '93. In any case, does anybody understand how I'm able to replace my Key FOB with no going to the dealer?Read more on this topic
