2007 Honda Fit Average 23 MPG!?!?!?!?

i only bought a 2007 Honda Fit Sport AT. as it listed 31/37 mpg. and the Edmunds.com tested said greatest 34.7 worst 27.4 average 31.6.NO WAY~~~I'm getting no where close to that. i drives in the nj suburban. (think about as in they city)i'm getting 23mpg average. what is wrong. is there something wrong with my car or there something wrong with my driving skill. i'm certain i'm not a crazy driver. and i drive very normal and smooth. i tried not to gain over to 2500rph. especially i tried to obtain a greatest mpg on the auto. i'm still getting like just 25mpg. that pissed me off. any sugestion???
