92 honda power steering fluid question?I am attempting to flush my PS, and I would rather not use pricey exceptional honda PS fluid to carry out it. I am ok with doing a final flush and fill amongst honda stuff, however I am wondering about using something like AT dexron fluid or a solvent of a number of kind. The pump seems fine, however the PS is not working. Also...does anybody know when or how the bypass to the cooling tubes on the PS operates? Is it by fluid temp?And while I am at it...does a new rack come amongst valve body for the PS, or do I must purchase that separately?I know there's a number of Honda wizard out there who knows all about this...Read more on this topic Power Steering Fluid leaking out around the reservoir top, what could be my problem?Question Details: I've a 1989 Honda Prelude SI 2.0 2wheel Drive. I recently had a power steering pump put on after months of not using power steering (no pump or belt) and at first the car ran good. However after about one day I noticed the fluid was gone out of the reservoir. The fluid a number of how pushed itself out through the top on the reservoir. I've had to replace the top as it blew it off. What could be my problem??? It has been 1 to 2 years with no a power steering pump. I'd a stick in the pump to maintain it from leaking out onto my motor. When I had the power steering pump put on it ran great for one day. The following day the reservoir was empty and it had fluid all over the top on the reservoir (it was was not power steering fluid it was transmission fluid which is an alternative I suppose). I took the hoses(3) on the reservoir off and cleaned them which truly not a thing was in them. I cleaned out the reservoir and let it dry entirely. Then I added a number of more power steering fluid however it pushed it out too. The mechanic suggested getting a new steering rack however they cost too much and I'm uncertain if that's the true problem.
