Help! What could be causing my car/steering wheel to shake?

I've an '00 Civic Si...since yesterday I've noticed that my steering wheel and pretty much my whole dash area shakes badly while driving, not just when I brake, however continuously while driving. The steering wheel slowly shakes from side to side while I am at lower speeds...then intensifies while at freeway speeds...is this a thing that might gain the ability to wait one or 2 days until I'm able to take it to the shop? Also, I'm able to hear a strange (rattling) sound while inside my auto...uncertain if it's coming from the wheels or not though. Any assist here shall be appreciated =) Thank you.
