does it make sense to change the timing belt?I've a 2006 Honda Civic with 175k miles on it. We changed the timing belt at 90k, as the guide instructed. I am wondering if it makes sense to adjust it at 180k or not.The car is worth about $1200, and changing a timing belt in this car is costly ($600 - $900) for the reason that the engine has to be removed to carry out it. Seems like many cash to pay on an car that is not worth very much to begin with.we've had zero issues with this auto, and have kept it well maintained. We do tune-ups each 7500 miles, and oil adjustments in between the tune-ups.my mistake - major typo 1996 honda, not 2006!

Immediately the car has 50,000 miles and the Honda dealership is suggesting we change the timing belt. 2 questions: a) does the timing belt need to be changed for the reason that it has been 7 years and b) is $900 excessive for this? Thank you in advance.Read more on this topic Changing Timing Belt on 98 CR-V B20B4 motor?I am attempting to adjust the timing belt. I have used a cheater bar, and broke my socket extension instead. Bought a 220lbs-ft impact wrench, and the bolt isn't breakig lose at all. The cylinder head is currently off, so I do not think i ought to use engine torque to losen the bold, as I am not even sure which way the motor turns. Assist, please!!!
