Honda Accord 1996, new water pump/timing belt/oil change, smoke coming out from under the...

...auto and heats up? I only had my water pump/timing belt replaced and oil change. When the pump failed, white smoke was coming out, which I figured out to be coolant from the smell. Immediately there's smoke coming out from under the engine, which I believe to smell like oil. Also, the temperature gauge goes up to the halfway point when I'm at a stoplight or idling. The highest I've ever seen it's at 1/3.I had my car serviced by the dealership and I asked them. The guy said it is burning oil residue from the oil change and that it is certain to burn away in a handful of days. Is this true? I've had my car worked on and oil changed for the past year at this dealership and have never had any smoke or other difficulties. What other thing could be going on? Worse case scenarios. Thank you everybody.

1996 Honda Accord 4 cylinder, 16V. Timing belt, spark plugs, fuel filter, battery all fine. Car...

...wouldnt start. I sought to start my car in the afternoon and it would not start. (I turned it on to move it 2 feet earlier that day.) Fuel filter, battery, spark plugs, timing belt (25k miles since I changed it) were fine. I later found it was low, however not empty on oil. I was wondering if it has a sensor that'll stop the car from turning on if the oil is dangerously low? After checking the things previously mentioned, I checked the oil, however thinking it could not be the dilemma. The oil was dangerously low, however not empty. I then filled it with oil and it lastly turned on. Why did this happen? That was the sole difficulty found. The oil was low, the car did not desire to start. After filling it with oil, the car began again. PLEASE ELABORATE. ANSWER IN COMPLETE SENTENCES. THANK YOU
